Speak Like A Native

A practical pronunciation course for professionals who want to sound clearer, more natural, and more confident when speaking English at work.

Your English is good. But people sometimes misunderstand you...

...and you're not sure why.

The reason is often pronunciation. Not grammar, not vocabulary — pronunciation. And the difficult thing about pronunciation errors is that you usually can't hear them yourself. You're saying what you want to say. It sounds correct to you. But your listener hears something different.

Sometimes it's a specific sound that doesn't exist in your first language. Sometimes it's the rhythm of a sentence — which words you emphasise and which you don't. Sometimes it's the way words join together in natural speech, so that your careful, clear pronunciation actually makes you sound less fluent, not more.

These problems are very common, and they're fixable. But if you're going to get it right all the time — not just in specific phrases you've learned from a teacher or from listening to native speakers — you need to understand what's actually happening. Not just listen and repeat, hoping it'll improve.

15 lessons. A complete system, from individual sounds to natural, confident speech.

Each lesson is practical. You don't just watch — you stop, practise, and apply.

Every lesson has exercises built into it, so you can work on the sounds and patterns in real time.

The course is built in four parts:

Specific sounds

The lessons start with the individual sounds that cause the most problems for non-native speakers.

This includes sounds like:

  1. h, j, th, and v

  2. the difference between long and short vowel sounds (the kind of difference that changes "sheet" to something very different)

  3. the -ed ending

  4. the unstressed schwa, the most common sound in English

For each sound, the course shows you exactly how to make it — where to put your tongue, how to use your lips and breath. Then you practise with exercises and rhymes to build the habit.

Stress and rhythm

In English, the rhythm of how we speak is different to many other languages. Some words in a sentence carry more weight and time than others.

Which words you emphasise, and how you do that, changes the meaning — and getting this wrong is one of the most common reasons native speakers find you difficult to follow.

This section covers which sounds and words to stress, and how to use your voice to make your message clear and interesting to listen to.

Connected speech

Have you ever wondered why native speakers don't sound like they're saying the words that you're reading?

When people speak naturally in English, individual words don't sound the way they do when said alone. Sounds change, join together, or disappear.

This section shows you how that works, so you can understand natural speech more easily and start to use it yourself. Each lesson includes real texts to mark up and practise.

Chunking and pausing

Where you pause when you speak has a big effect on how easy you are to follow, and how confident you sound.

This section brings together everything from the course and shows you how to group your words and use pauses well so that you sound confident and natural to listeners.

What will be different after this course

You'll understand which specific sounds and patterns have been causing problems — and you'll know what to do about them. The misunderstandings that come from incorrect sounds and rhythm, in particular, will reduce as you practise.

You'll also have a better understanding of how to use your voice. Stress, rhythm, and the way words connect — these are the things that make someone sound natural and confident. The course gives you clear awareness of how they work. Putting them into practice takes time and real-world experimentation, but you'll have a framework to start from, exercises to get started, and the ability to notice what needs adjusting.

The result is less worry about whether your pronunciation is creating problems, more confidence when you speak, and a clearer picture of what you need to continue to practise.

What's included:

  • 15 short video lessons, between 7 and 20 minutes each

About the course creator

I'm Anna-Maria, a business English communication coach with a 15-year background in finance and business, including roles as Finance Director and CEO, and nearly a decade coaching international professionals in English.

Speak Like A Native grew out of the practical pronunciation work I do with students in my main coaching programmes. It includes the lessons that make the biggest difference, structured into a course you can work through on your own.

Most pronunciation courses ask you to listen and repeat and hope you'll hear the difference in the sounds. This one explains why each sound is difficult and shows you exactly how to produce it correctly. That makes the improvement faster and more reliable.
