Professional English Under Pressure
A practical 4-week course for B2+ professionals who already use English at work, but lose clarity and confidence in real-time conversations.
Next course: 6 September – 3 October 2026
Access to course materials until 31 October
Your thinking gets slower
Your words don’t come out as clearly as they should
You hesitate, simplify too much, or stop speaking altogether
you already use English at work (at B2 level or above)
calls or meetings feel mentally exhausting
you freeze, overthink, or lose clarity once you start speaking
you feel less capable in English than you are in your real role
you’re looking for grammar lessons or vocabulary lists
you want to sound like a native speaker
you don’t use English regularly in real work situations
you're at an early language level and still need foundational English
This course isn’t about becoming fluent. It’s about changing how English feels and functions for you at work.
Over 4 weeks, the focus is on moving you through these stages:
You’ll understand what happens cognitively when English is used under pressure, and why “freezing” is often a processing issue rather than a language one.
You’ll learn how to:
buy yourself time without sounding uncertain
reduce hesitation in the first 30 seconds of speaking
respond more calmly instead of shutting down
This week reduces the internal friction that makes everything else harder.
You’ll focus on practical ways to keep speaking clearly in meetings and on calls, even when your thinking feels rushed.
You’ll practice:
finishing your sentence instead of abandoning it halfway
answering questions without over-explaining
keeping your structure simple when the conversation speeds up
This is where control starts to feel visible, both to you and to others.
You’ll work on contributing more deliberately in meetings and calls.
This includes:
explaining your thinking clearly
responding to unexpected questions
adding value without over-preparing or scripting everything in advance
This is often the point where people notice they’re being heard more clearly.
In the final week, you’ll consolidate what’s changed and identify what still needs strengthening.
By this point, many people notice they:
speak without mentally translating first
respond more naturally in live conversations
need far less rehearsal before meetings
You’ll leave with clarity about what to continue practising, and with English that reflects your real level of thinking more consistently.
The course runs from 28 June – 25 July. Each week, four short video lessons are released — around one hour of study time in total, designed to fit around a full working week.
Each week includes:
short, pre-recorded video lessons released at the start of the week.
a live practice clinic — an optional session to ask questions and practise the week's techniques with Anna-Maria. The session day and time is chosen based on availability of the majority of participants — you'll complete a short poll after joining. Sessions are recorded for those who can't or prefer not to attend live.
Access to a private community group to ask questions and get support between live sessions.
practical guidance you can apply directly in meetings & calls.
The live practice clinics are designed for participants to practise the techniques in real time after watching that week's lessons. They are not additional teaching sessions. Recordings are provided for everyone.
Access to the course materials and community continues for an additional 4 weeks after the course ends (until 22 August), to support application alongside real work commitments and allow you time to catch up if you fall behind during the 4 weeks.
This is not about performing well in class. It’s about building skills that hold up in real situations.
"I started to make pauses after each question and take a breath. And nothing happened — all participants just waited a bit and there were no issues at all. I saw my speaking 'issues' from a completely different angle. What surprised me most was that my issues were connected not only to vocabulary, but also to the psychological side."
Natalia K, Product Owner
"I tried pausing to connect my ideas using phrases like 'please give me a moment to figure out the best way to explain this' — and I really felt more relaxed. Anna-Maria's tone of voice really helped me feel back in a classroom, and she gives you time to pause the videos and say answers out loud — it's surprising how much you learn from your own communication with others."
Johanis B, Customer Service Assistant
My name is Anna-Maria.
Before becoming a Business English coach, I spent over 15 years working in finance and senior business roles in the UK, where meetings, reporting, and decision-making happened under pressure.
For nearly a decade, I’ve worked with ambitious professionals who already have good English, but don’t feel fully confident using it in high-stakes situations.
The pattern is consistent across industries and roles:
their English isn’t weak. It just doesn’t hold up under pressure.
That’s what this course is designed to address, calmly, practically, and in a way that reflects real working environments.
4 weeks of structured video lessons — around 1 hour of content per week
Weekly live practice clinics (optional, recorded if you can't attend)
A private community group for questions and support during the course
Access to course materials and community for an additional 4 weeks after the course ends (until 22 August)
This course is designed for professionals at B2 level or above who already use English at work. It is not suitable for beginners.
